Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
City officials said they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important official said the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
